Commendations

Just to let you know how pleased I was with Conker and Seth's schooling. Have really noticed the difference with Conkers canter, he is so much better, especially with the transitions. Seth is also far better with his feet and the general handling. Could you thank Ellie and the girls for looking after them so well. I will definitely be planning another holiday!

After our 2 yr old filly, Suzie, came 2nd in the Irish Draft Breed Show we realised we had an exceptional horse. We needed a competent person to break her in and enhance her abilities. We found this very special person, called Ellie, at Upton Pyne Equestrian Centre.

We recognised that we needed some help with our two horses and recently sent them both to Upton Pyne Equestrian Centre. The facilities on offer at UPEC are excellent, with a huge outdoor school, wash bay and horse walker. We found that everyone at the yard is very friendly and welcoming. Regardless of your level of experience you are made to feel comfortable. Due to business commitments and general lack of time, a year ago we stopped riding "Foaley" our 16hh part Cleveland mare. She had never been a very confident horse in heavy traffic and as we started to ride her less often, so she put on weight, got out of condition and things spiraled downwards. So off she went to UPEC for a period of re-schooling with Ellie Wass and after four weeks we started to have lessons. We were apprehensive about the lessons, not having ridden in front of a professional for several years. However we need not have worried, Ellie is very knowledgeable and is able to impart that knowledge in an enthusiastic and very patient manner. We felt our riding and our mare’s way of going improved from the start and continued to have lessons over the next few weeks. Foaley has since returned home with a better attitude and seems to enjoy her hacking as much as we do. We also sent our second horse to UPEC to be ridden-on shortly after she was backed. Alice is a 16.3hh purebred four-year-old Irish Draught. Again Ellie did an excellent job with Alice and got her going incredibly well. We chose to keep Alice at the yard for eight weeks while we had lessons to help us get the best out of her. It was ideal to be able to get used to riding her under Ellie’s supervision. Both horses are now back home and are going well and both of us feel more positive and happier about our riding. It really seems as if the world is our oyster. We made a wise decision when we chose UPEC and really feel that our money has been well spent. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the yard and Ellie’s teaching and have already booked holiday liveries for the mares.

I had bought what I thought was the perfect horse for me, only to find myself out of my depth. My horse, Hope(!), had thrown me on several occasions and I was losing confidence fast. I contacted Ellie who took Hope on for a few months, re-schooling her and getting her fit. Ellie then gave me lots of lessons on her. I was feeling pretty nervous about riding anything, let alone Hope, at that time but Ellie is a real confidence-giver, never over-facing me and always praising me for the bits I got right. We reluctantly decided that Hope wasn't the horse for me, confirming our fears that a back injury was at least partly to blame for her unpredictable behaviour. Through Ellie's hard work though, we were able to find her a good home. And I am riding horses I would never have dared sit on before! I hope to get another horse sometime in the near future and one of my absolute musts on my check list will be that Ellie has seen and approved of the horse!
